artos
bread, loaf
Say it: AR-tos (approximate)
What it means
Bread, and by extension food. In Mark 6 to 8 bread runs like a thread: the five loaves, the Syrophoenician woman's crumbs, the seven loaves, and the disciples' worry about having no bread in the boat. Jesus' last question to them, "Don't you understand yet?" (8:21), is about the loaves.
