sōzō
to save, to heal, to make well
Say it: SODE-zo (approximate)
What it means
A word that covers rescue, healing, and salvation. In Mark 5 it is used of the woman ("your faith has made you well," 5:34) and of Jairus' hope that his daughter will "live" (5:23), and in 8:35 of saving one's life. English cannot show that one Greek word runs through all of these, so the nuance can be lost.
