proginōskō

to foreknow

Say it: pro-gin-OCE-ko (approximate)

προγινώσκω

What it means

To know beforehand. Paul says "whom he foreknew, he also predestined" (8:29) and that God did not reject "his people whom he foreknew" (11:2). In the Bible knowing is relational as well as factual, so some read "foreknew" as "set his love on beforehand," others as God's advance knowledge.
